Course objectives: At the end of the course the students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of underlying Assistive Technology issues Introduction to CA for persons with disabilities (including an introduction to disablement, ICIDH-2, user characteristics and service delivery)

Course description: This 'Computer Access I Course' might be of interest to a variety of people with various backgrounds as engineering, computer sciences, occupational therapy, special education, peer-counselling, etc. Therefore, the course tries to build bridges between disciplines, covering the subject of CA. Although it is a multimedia course, we aimed at a presentation format, which is also accessible for people with disabilities.
This course is mainly directed to the field of motor and cognitive impaired person and is written from a technical point of view. This is Computer Acces Course I, a second course - 'Computer Access Course II' - mainly directed to the field of blind and visual impaired persons is planned.
Relation to other courses: This course consists of three different modules. One module was produced especially for this Course. Two other modules based on existing courses of the "ACE CENTRE" (ACE Centre Switch Access Course (ACE CENTRE, Oxford, UK) and of "HANDITEK" (Computer access for persons with developmental disabilities (HANDITEK, Borlänge, Sweden)) are included as special units in this course.
